Why do people still have their McCain/Palin stickers on their cars? Is it to protest Obama? Is it to assure us that they are proud republicans? Is it in protest to this administration, which has barely had 30 days in power? I don’t get it. All it reminds us of, in my humble opinion, is that you supported the loser that most people didn’t want in power. In other words, most people think you’re wrong.
Incidentally, I would be saying the same thing if things went the other way.
So in other words, you think people should be afraid or embarrassed to proclaim an opinion that 52% of voting Americans disagree with? That’s a pretty lame standard.
No, Jwwf, that is not what I said. I said I don’t understand what purpose it serves to continue to display the sticker of the losing candidate. It’s no different than still having a Hillary ’08 sticker.
It’s one thing to disagree with the administration, it’s another to continue to proudly display support for one that doesn’t – and will never – exist.
Think of it this way: The McCain administration did not exist when the stickers were made, either. The stickers supported the idea of a McCain administration, which presumably meant the support of not just McCain himself, but ideas McCain agreed with. Maybe those people are trying to say that they still support those ideas, even if a little over half of voting Americans did not back in November. Maybe they are even trying to say that they still like the idea of a McCain administration, even if it would never happen. I see no harm in that, and I definitely see no reason why they should worry about “most” people thinking they are wrong.
There’s already a sticker for that: it’s an elephant. I don’t think any political sticker on a car is ever a good idea, lest some idiot opposer decide that keying your car is good for America, however, a sticker for an also-ran candidate will never seem like anything but sour grapes to me.
Except they did…I saw many Kerry/Edwards stickers here in Texas (where the ticket was only slightly more popular than the plague) up until the primary in 2008….
