Why is it that I’m still a little freaked out by flying? Even I, a staunch logician aware of the safety statistics, am still creeped out by every bump and drop? Why?
In a car, you can see what’s going on. In a plane, you can see a tiny part of what’s going on around the plane and only if you’re in a window seat.
If you’re driving, you’re in control.
Because its a long way down…
Having a trained sharpshooter shoot a carrot out of your teeth is also certainly much safer than logging 1000 miles in a car (I’d venture to guess that your likelihood of death would be near zero). But man wouldn’t it be terrifying!
